Know Your Genetics

  • Business
  • Natural Resources

Course Description

This workshop will explore the genetics of Cannabis, tracing the plant’s evolution from its wild ancestors to the selective breeding, cloning, hybridization, and biotechnology that define modern cultivation. The plant relationship between genotypes and phenotypes will be examined in depth, highlighting how a plant’s genetic makeup and expression determine its physical and chemical traits.

Participants will learn how strain selection impacts the final product and how to choose genetics that best suit a grower’s license parameters, cultivation methods, and environmental conditions. The session will also include opportunities for consultation with experienced breeders and for participants to share their own breeding experiences, challenges, and insights.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how genetics shape the Cannabis plant – and how to apply that knowledge to achieve desired results in their own growing operations.
