Course Description
In Vermont, journeymen and master electricians must complete 15 hours of continuing education every three years to renew their licenses. This engaging Code Update training fulfills that requirement, using the 2026 NECT as the guiding framework to ensure you stay current with code changes and their practical applications in the field. Through clear instruction, discussion, and real-world examples, participants will deepen their understanding of the latest code updates to maintain compliance and safety on the job. Having a copy of the 2026 NEC on hand is highly recommended for reference during the course.

Jodi Doyle is an instructor for the Electrical 1 class for the VT State Apprenticeship Program. He is a VT Master Electrician with over 30 years in the trade and works for the state of Vermont as an Electrical Inspector covering the Northwest region of Vermont. Within his 30 plus years Jodi has dedicated 25 years to NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Program development, training and implementation for world class manufacturing throughout Vermont. Jodi’s classroom style is focused primarily around lecture, working through examples with repetition so that students understand the math and formulas required to be successful in the Vermont State Apprenticeship Program. In Jodi’s downtime he enjoys playing music, scale model building, anything with trades. He will continue to give back to the program indefinitely for a program that has given so much to him.

James Navin has been in the trade for 36 Years and has been a Master for 29 Years. James has his own business since 2002. Prior to owning his own business James worked for 9 years in Industrial electrical installations and systems integration. Since owning his own business James has primarily worked on Residential, Commercial and Solar applications. James Navin has Instructor experience with the Apprenticeship Electricity 2 program for over 20 years. In recent years James was able to use safety training to help by lecturing GE employees who are entering the trade, and for the past three years James has been a presenter for NFPA 70 code update classes.
Since 1989, Electricity and Installations have been my Life. It only made sense to progress to instruction to help train new electricians and pass on my passion for this trade.
