Course Description
Course Description: This graduate course equips practicing K-5 teachers with the knowledge and skills to implement explicit, systematic phonics instruction using the UFLI Foundations program. The course will collaboratively prepare teachers to master the UFLI lesson routine, design differentiated instruction, and use progress monitoring to advance student outcomes.
Audience: Classroom teachers K-5, Interventionists, Special Educators. Must hold an earned Bachelor’s degree.

• Goal 1: Master the UFLI Framework
Teachers will develop a comprehensive understanding of the UFLI Scope & Sequence and developmental progressions.
• Goal 2: Execute High-Fidelity UFLI Lesson Delivery
Teachers will implement all 8 steps of the UFLI lesson routine with fidelity in classroom settings.
• Goal 3: Design Data-Driven Interventions
Teachers will utilize UFLI assessments and resources to determine student needs and deliver targeted interventions.
• Goal 4: Apply Research-Based Strategies for Foundational Skills
Teachers will deliver phonemic awareness activities, visual and auditory drills, blending practice, word work, and reading of connected text using explicit instruction.
• Goal 5: Engage in Reflective Practice and Professional Collaboration
Teachers will evaluate their instructional delivery, engage with peers, and refine their practice.
