Electrical Level 4

Mark Fournier is a Master licensed electrician in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. He started his electrical career at the age of 35 after being a professional cook for 17 years. Mark has taught fourth-year apprentices in the apprenticeship program for five years. He likes to focus on enhancing students’ knowledge of the code book, its layout, finding code requirements, and refreshing knowledge of the common calculations used in the field and on licensing exams.

Is a seasoned electrical inspector and dedicated apprenticeship instructor with over 28 years of experience in the electrical industry. A licensed Master Electrician, Daniel, brings a deep well of practical knowledge and technical expertise to both the field and the classroom.  

For the past nine years, he has served as an electrical inspector, ensuring safety, compliance, and quality in a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects. In parallel, Daniel has spent the last seven years teaching as a 4th-year apprenticeship instructor, where he is known for his clear, hands-on teaching style and commitment to preparing the next generation of electricians for successful careers.  

Daniel’s combined field experience and instructional leadership make him a valuable contributor to the university’s mission of providing high-quality, industry-relevant education. 

Steve Baker is an Electrical Level 4 Instructor with more than 30 years of experience teaching electrical apprenticeship courses and other state-certified training programs. A graduate of Vermont Technical College with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Steve has spent over 40 years working in the electrical industry. 

Throughout his career, Steve has combined hands-on industry experience with a passion for education, helping apprentices develop the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in the electrical trade. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he currently works as a Project Manager and Electrical Designer, bringing current industry practices and real-world experience into the classroom. 

Steve finds great satisfaction in guiding students through the apprenticeship program and helping them achieve their goal of becoming licensed electricians. His commitment to student success and his extensive industry knowledge make him a valuable mentor for those entering the electrical profession. 

Master Electrician/Vermont State Electrical Inspector 

I am a third-generation master electrician, in my early career I built and wired large plastic injection molders. Later I did odd jobs and handyman projects for friends and in turn, I became a small business owner. I worked in the carpentry, plumbing, concreate trades prior to attending night school for electrical. Upon passing my licensing test I changed the scope of my business into electrical contracting. 

Later, I set-up a small manufacturing plant to build and install space saving elevating beds for small city apartments both in the US and abroad until it closed. 

For a few years I worked on a couple of construction projects including a two million dollar motel of which I was the clerk of the works. Next was the construction of a 56 foot diameter rotating dome dwelling north of NYC. 

I was employed by an area electrician before taking a job at Energizer Battery as a maintenance electrician, troubleshooting, installing, production, packaging machines, building industrial control panels, and then as an engineering technician. 

In December 2014, I was hired into my current position with the State of Vermont. 

Hobbies: Collecting old electrical oddities and parts, home renovations, traveling, building electronic projects and designing/building lighting fixtures.
