With over 19 years of experience as a plumber in Vermont, Chuck has also served as a plumbing instructor for Vermont State University for more than eleven years. His professional background includes extensive work in both commercial and residential plumbing, as well as operating his own residential plumbing company for the past eight years. His instructional approach is straightforward: students are there to learn, and he is there to teach. This forms the foundation of his contract with his students. He encourages curiosity and engagement—expecting questions and exploration rather than blind compliance or rote memorization. When asked why he teaches, his answer is simple: he is training his successors.

Dave Lyon is a Plumbing I instructor for Vermont State College and has spent 29 years as a Journeyman Plumber at Norwich University. He’s experienced in residential and multi-purpose plumbing, working with PVC, cast iron, and steel systems, and enjoys both large-scale projects and small home repairs. As he approaches retirement in December, Dave looks forward to new opportunities in the plumbing field and some well-earned relaxation. Passionate about teaching, he values creating a supportive learning environment for future professionals—and welcomes the occasional dog or cat in class. 

Alfred Baesemann is a Vermont licensed master plumber with 25 years of experience in residential and commercial plumbing, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. He specializes in educating newcomers to the industry via online and in person hands-on teaching for plumbing, oil burners and refrigerant standards. 

He teaches in the apprenticeship program for the rewarding experience of guiding the next generation in his fields. He gets to share his expertise, shape the future workforce and keep licensed professionals updated on industry best practices.
